Distinguished Healthcare Researcher
Professor Vickery is Honorary Scientific Director of the Surgical Infection Research Group, at the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences, Macquarie University, Sydney Australia.
Professor Vickery has been at the forefront of research into detecting biofilm associated with breast implant failure, and endoscope and environmental surfaces decontamination failures.
Her research aims to prevent healthcare associated infections by focusing on both surgical strategies for preventing biofilm infection of medical implants, treating biofilm infections of chronic wounds and strategies that improve instrument and environmental decontamination.
Her expertise in decontamination has led to membership of expert advisory committees for the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), GENCA and Standards Australia.
Prof. Vickery's session at the iClean Conference will offer valuable insights into healthcare epidemiology, particularly in surgical infection prevention and management.

Professor Brett Mitchell AM is an internationally renowned clinician researcher in the field of infection prevention and control.
He is Editor-in-Chief of Infection, Disease in Health, with appointments at Avondale University (Professor of Nursing and Health Services Research), Monash University (Professor of Nursing) and the Central Coast Local Health District in New South Wales.
Brett’s research provides high quality evidence to inform infection control practice, leading many clinical trials. Brett has over 180 peer reviewed publications and >$14m in grant funding.
Prof Mitchell has received several prestigious national awards for his contributions, including an Order of Australia for his services to nursing and infection control and a Commonwealth Health Ministers award for excellence in health and medical research.
Prof Mitchell has served on several national committees in Australia and is a fellow of the Australian College of Nursing and Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control.
Brett has been involved in many world leading cleaning trials and initiatives and is considered a global leader in infection control and cleaning.

Martin has worked in infection prevention and control for 35 years in a variety of settings. He is a Visiting Professor at the Richard Wells Research Centre at the University of West London and Conjoint Fellow at Avondale University (New South Wales, Australia).
Formerly he was Nurse Consultant and Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control at an NHS Trust in the North-West of England.
Martin is a past president of the Infection Prevention Society. In 2020 he was awarded honorary membership of the Healthcare Infection Society and in 2023 was awarded the Ayliffe Lifetime Achievement Award by the Infection Prevention Society.
He has published over 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals and is one of the co-hosts of the Infection Control Matters podcast.

Fiona Nemetz is theSystem Director of Environmental Services, Safety & Security for Northside Hospital. Northside is a 5 Hospital System with over 1750 licensed beds.
Fiona’s prior roles include leadership positions at Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Hyatt Hotels with responsibility for Environmental Services (EVS) and other support departments.
Fiona shares a passion for EVS Leadership with over 40 years’ experience in both the hospitality and healthcare industries. She served on the AHE board from 2008-2010 and was President in 2010.
Fiona has focused on the partnership between EVS, Nursing and Infection Prevention to drive outcomes in quality/HCAHPS scores.
She led the EVS team at the Atlanta campus to achieve the 2015 AHE Department of the Year award and in 2019 the Cherokee campus was also awarded this prestigious recognition.
In 2016 she was awarded the Phoenix award by AHE in recognition of her professional accomplishments and contributions to the EVS profession.
Additionally she became a Master trainer for CHEST, CNACC and CSCT which are EVS certifications for training of front line staff, provided by AHE.
Fiona holds a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration.
